About us...Who we are
This is a time unlike any other in recent memory, around the world and here at home in Canada. The unprecedented nature of the current challenges facing Canada amid the pandemic is already re-orienting our relationship to every aspect of our daily life, including with the governments, schools, businesses, and even to each other. Some of these changes, experts believe, will be with us for months and years.
But crisis such as these often also present opportunity: more sophisticated and flexible use of technology, less polarization, a revived appreciation for life’s other simple pleasures.
While hundreds of wonderful non-profit and charitable organizations all over Canada have been helping the communities for decades, the unprecedented pandemic has drastically changed our functions, revenue cycles, programs, activities and availability of volunteers. Unfortunately, many have simply ceased operations.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted nearly every personal & business function. Nearly a hundred or more Multicultural Organizations, Ethno-Cultural groups and Non-Profits have been forced to plunge into the new era of digital age.
Unfortunately – with the additional expenses, dried-up funding and in many cases loss of volunteer support, many are not expected to survive beyond pandemic, while others may limit their activities, services and service hours.
Our clients will suffer immensely. We all need to support our clients, the immigrants, refugees, children, racially marginalized Canadians, the indigenous and the mentally ill community members who are increasingly being discriminated or even getting killed or imprisoned without justice.
We have to come together to help the most vulnerable during this crisis. We all need to support our employees & volunteers and look for ways to help our clients & communities navigate these turbulent waters.
Since no one organization can do it alone, the Multicultural Council of Canada, an Umbrella Organization, has been formed to bring all Multicultural Organizations, Ethno-Cultural Groups and others to a single platform to navigate through these unique and evolving challenges.
We believe a strong partnership, collaboration, shared values and responsibilities will definitely support our goals of not only survival during these unprecedented times but we can all flourish and be able to reduce our overhead & fixed costs, increase our revenues and flourish to help our communities with even greater vigour, facilities and programs. The Multicultural Council of Canada, as an umbrella organization, encompasses, works-with and supports all the existing local Multicultural Councils, Ethno-Cultural Groups and non-profit organizations, regardless of whether they are a paid member of MCC, to help the local communities and economies, enhancing but without duplicating the services or interfering with their local leadership, infrastructure or financial affairs.
This website offers a comprehensive database of contact information of various local organizations in each of the Provinces and Territories. Please visit the region you are interested in but feel free to contact us.
Multicultural Council of Canada (MCC) is involved in myriad of activities
Preservation of world cultures
The dynamic change in the ‘World Order’, caused by massive immigration, and intensive movement of refugees around the world has transformed our world in a ‘Global Village’, enriched with cultures, languages, foods, religions and traditions that the history has never experienced.
Education
Education, we all agree, is the key for our prosperity and growth. It alleviates poverty and provides opportunity for political, social & economical upward mobility for Canadians-at-large as well as immigrants & refugees.
Healthcare
The epidemic of health misinformation, disinformation and its pernicious impact on public health in Canada as well as the alarming cases of ‘Mental Health’, we believe, is a moral & civic responsibility on an individual and institutional level.
Membership
The Multicultural Council is a membership based, non-profit, organization. Membership in the Multicultural Council (MCC) is open to anyone who agrees with our Mission, Vision & Goals, and is dedicated to furthering the cause of diversity, multiculturalism, and wants to promote better understanding, peace and harmony among all Canadians.
